Arriving by Train
If you choose to fly into another major city besides Florence....

This beautiful station connects you to all of Italy and serves as the main hub for local buses too. If you are traveling from major cities around Florence...

Rome: 1.5-2 hour train to Florence. This is a great city to fly into if you are a first timer to Italy and would like to see the historical city of Roma before or after the wedding!
Venice: 2 hour train to Florence. Also a great city to visit for first timers!

Milan: 2 hour train to Florence. If you are interested in visiting the beautiful city of Milan while also being in close proximity to the famous Lake Como, this is a great travel destination for you! Fly into Milan and get a taxi to Lake Como (about 1 hour drive) for an amazing get-away!

Driving to Florence
All major car rental companies are available throughout Tuscany (Avis, Hertz, Europcar, Maggiore/National, and Sixt).

Important to Know: Florence's historic center is a restricted traffic zone (ZTL) monitored by cameras. If you're staying in the city center, simply give your hotel your license plate number in advance, and they'll register your vehicle with local police - problem solved! Otherwise, park outside the ZTL and enjoy a lovely walk, bus ride, or taxi into the historic area.
Getting Around Florence Like a Local
The Best News: Florence is Extremely Walkable! The historic center is compact and absolutely perfect for exploring on foot - you'll discover hidden gems around every corner and soak in the Renaissance atmosphere at your own pace!

Taxi Tips for Success: Unlike other cities, you can't hail taxis on the street in Italy. Instead, you'll find them at designated taxi stands in major squares and at the airport, or you can call them directly. While taxis cost more than public transport, they're perfect for special occasions!

Payment tip: Let your driver know upfront if you'll be paying by credit card, though it's always smart to have some euros on hand just in case.
